At work, I'm the lead for the NASA Meteoroid Environments Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center, located in Huntsville, Alabama. My specialty is meteoroids (bet you couldn’t guess) with emphasis on the risks posed to spacecraft by this natural debris. If you ever see a meteor shower forecast for a spacecraft, it's probably my work - I have spent a great deal of time forecasting Leonid activity for satellites and ground observers over the past few years.

Off duty, I indulge myself in my rocket hobby, devour books on history and Bronze age archaeology, especially ancient Egypt, and play World of Warcraft.

My political and religious bent, as well as overriding philosophy, can be briefly summarized with the following:

  • I am an Independent, neither Democrat or Republican. More accurately, I consider myself a Constitutionalist, as I am a staunch supporter of this document. It, and the Declaration of Independence, form the basis of my political pyramid.
  • I am an agnostic - I neither believe nor disbelieve in the existence of God. In my opinion, there is no objective evidence for His Existence; however, I do admit that if He did exist, it would be possible for Him to elude instrumentality.  To me, Atheists are as religious as Evangelicals; both have closed minds in certain areas.
  • I am a scientist - I consider the scientific method to be the best, most objective path to knowledge of the Universe. In my career, I have learned that debates over ideas are healthy and productive, as long as the discussions are based on reasoned thought and objective evidence, and provided that personal attacks are not made on the debaters. This is how progress is made.
